Hello 65 classmates,

Since our last reunion in 2005 my life has had some real ups and downs. I continue to work at the Guilford County Health Department in Greensboro NC as a Physician Assistant but will probably retire the end of this year after I reach 25 years of service. I've enjoyed the work but I'm looking forward to moving on to other things.

At the time of our last reunion I had a 6 month old grandson and I now have two more grand sons and a grand daughter all pictured in the photos. Spending time with them has been
such a joy. The only problem is that they all live far away. My daughter, who has been in practice for 5 years as a family practitioner, and her family, live in Helena Montana and my son, after spending 5 years living and skiing in the Colorado mountains, met and married a young Colorado woman, went to nursing school and now works in a hospital in Fort Collins CO. Even though they are far away we still have been able to get together frequently.

A real tragedy happened to me in May of 2007. Caroline, my wife of 33 years, whom I met on an AFSC project in Vietnam in the early 1970s died of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. She had been healthy and developed what was thought to be the flu.
Over only a couple of days she rapidly got worse, went into acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and did not recover. She loved to garden so she spent a lot of time outside but she had no known tick bite and did not develop a rash so the diagnosis was not figured out until it was too late.

These last three years have been hard for me. I wish my kids and grandkids lived closer. After I retire I will spend a lot more time with them. My work, Quaker meeting, and music communities have been caring and supportive. I continue to make music with friends and I'm in a contra dance band. Having those things in my life has helped me get through this period.

A few weeks ago someone took a video of our band playing a waltz at a Contra Dance and put it up on Youtube. I'm playing the musical saw. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGbUgLYxqm4

I look forward to seeing you in May.
