Once I was Hell on wheels,

"Thanks" for a fun ride over the last years.
When I was a young man.

Today my body says, "You can't do this Dr. Greg!"

But my adventure ego says, "Yes you can!"

After circumnavigating the globe five times by motorcycle, racing and riding motorcycles over 1,000,000 miles I am moderately slowing down. I have discovered motorcycle adventure travel is not so much about the journey but more about the miles and years. I never expected to make it past 40, then I woke up alive at 50, and now look at friends, acquaintances and associates around me retiring or worse yet, checking-in to whatever is on the other side of this time on planet Earth.

March, 2010 found me stopping halfway around the world on an attempted sixth ride circumnavigating the globe.
My body says, "You can't do this Dr. Greg!"

I decided while in Java that to continue was a journey towards economic perdition as well as sheer foolishness. I had already seen much of what was ahead of me. Go to http://tinyurl.com/yjku2kf to see the end of that pursuit of my following the principles of Saint Fermin.

Needing a new knee and back surgery played a minor part in the decision to abandon the globe ride, as did Strabismus, an annoying eye disorder called Wandering Eye, not solely for the ladies, but a random focus or lack thereof. It had earlier halted my professional motorcycle racing.

I finished book #14 in March of 2010, titled
Happy New Year's Eve 1/2 way around the world away
from the Crow Indian Reservation in cold Montana
MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURER, about the earliest motorcycle ride around the world in 1912-1913, a 10 year research project. My last book, MOTORCYCLE TOURING/ON THE ROAD sold worldwide under the two different titles, reaching "Best Seller" status. A small film company I own also completed the field work on film # 10. I keep busy between riding, research, and film projects by writing for numerous motorcycle magazines around the world as a columnist, editor, photographer or free lance contributor. Some time as a script consultant also eats into my motorcycling adventures around the globe.

Home remains in the middle of the Crow Indian Reservation, Montana but winters over the last years have run me off the reservation when snow flies to equatorial locations like Thailand, Colombia and Brazil.
Plenty of roads, trails and tracks left for me to explore around the world.

Full retirement seems doubtful as I gave up golf, stamp collecting and checkers some years ago. My hobbies, profession and nose-in-the-wind calling will likely find my ashes being shipped back to the USA in the future from some distant place on the planet with my keyboard and cameras in the same urn. Some literary critics, ex-wives, girlfriends, and jealous wannabes say I am still Hell on wheels. I shrug off those shooting arrows at me from behind and continue happily adventuring through life with close to 95% physical mobility, a positive mental attitude about life and a great circle of friends around the world.
