Here I am skiing on a very cold day
this winter, on our local golf course.

How lucky we are to have linkage still alive. How I wish I could wish myself to t he reunion or at least to the east coast - but wow, it is challenging to travel afar from here. Recently on the way back from Fairbanks, the jet circled Juneau for one hour until the sky cleared enough to land. One glitch in travel here can set you back days! It's because we have to hop scotch from one place to another - ferry - small plane - big plane, etc. any of which can be waylaid - but the trouble is that they don't wait for each other!

So...I have three jobs: teacher for a student who is deaf and blind, Energy Sustainability Coordinator for the Haines Borough; and flower grower. Each one takes a little different touch and I am grateful for the perspective that each helps me inhabit.

And there is the new deck graced by a very large dog.
My son Heron (who did two years at W'town) came home this summer
to put a new deck on the house. He is a wooden boat builder by trade.

Here's the house from the big garden where
I grow cut flowers for market.
Dahlias for sale!

I am the sole teacher for a young woman who is deaf and blind. I've
learned braille, though for a while there I thought it was beyond me!

Here we are working the abacus.
That's me in the lovely black wig on the left.
It's Halloween by the way, and that IS a wig!
My student is loving her Dolly Parton do!
Here I am this Christmas with my beautiful
daughter Reed- also a Westtown graduate
