Due to Alex's graduation we will not be able to come to the reunion. Sandy and I continue to run our consulting company, A&HC. Thankfully, however, it now mostly runs itself, and we are in a sort of pre-retirement holding pattern, working when we need to and pottering about at home otherwise. Me mostly with sailboats (building them, fixing them, sailing them, etc.), Sandy prefers needlework. This empty nesting deal ain't so bad after all, sort of pleasantly peaceful. Our daughter Alex of "no fly" list fame will graduate from Middlebury College this spring, or at least so we have been told. The no fly list incident came about when Alex was delayed boarding a domestic flight because, as she was informed, her name was on the government's "no fly" list of suspected terrorists. One thing led to another, and she became involved with the ACLU in a suit challenging the constitutionality of the list. Her story came to the attention of the media, and was syndicated nationally. We all appeared in a short piece that aired on NBC Sunday night news. Bill Eaton saw it, and called me shortly afterwards, to tell me that with some surprise that we looked "normal". Well, maybe that is surprising after all, since others have been equally brave. I am attaching a couple of photos, one of us sailing locally, the other of our little terrorist. Frightening, isn't she? I especially enjoyed the photo of Bill at the helm of his pontoon boat. Connie Hay <cahay |
